memorial day weekend

As noted, I went camping over Memorial Day weekend with three coworkers. We left work Friday afternoon and drove south and west to Lake Quinault, passing through the wonderfully named town of Humptulips on the way. (Ah, my apologies: according to Google, Humptulips is not a town but a "census-designated place.")

Camping is fun! We used to go all the time when I was younger, but I hadn't been in so long. You will note, on the right, that we dried and reused our paper towels like good little environmentalists.

We coordinated our dishware to our chairs -- except for Holly, who had a pink cup and green chair. Totally embarrassing.

The first night we were there the entire sky turned pink at sunset. So we grabbed our cameras, intending to run down to the lake and take pictures. But we stopped at the bathroom first, and when we came out, the sky was almost entirely gray. Nearly all the pink had disappeared.

On Saturday we went hiking.

On Sunday we went to the beach.

We also saw the Big Cedar Tree and the World's Largest Spruce Tree.

Hooray for fun and friends.
